Restrictions Needed On Farmland Being Used For Forestry

Speaking on Midlands 103, Midlands North West MEP Matt Carthy has called on the government to introduce new rules to protect agriculture lands.

Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy says the Forestry Investment Fund initiative is facilitating the large scale purchasing of farmland by multinational investors.

Mr Carthy is concerned about the lack of information provided to the public about the owners and the strategy’s poor regulation.
